7:24p On the Moon, Part 1.
"Poor Jimmy." Lucien thought to himself. Speculating about being stranded in the lunar desert didn't bother him as was the idea that he had carried two friends into it with him. Space is a dangerous place. Tom knew it that well, having spent the better half of his life on the outside. Air leaks, contained explosions, dead engines -- these were common problems. Workers train and prepare for years, building up a resistance to the fear of death. Lucien had seen it, even in his short travels. "We are all fragile creatures," he thought "but Jimmy was just along for the ride."
A display on the console marked an hour since the crash, but the silence of the windless surface lent it far more reach. The hiss of pressurized tanks and rhythmic clank of mechanical filters had stopped moments earlier, leaving little but nervous breath and shifting bodies to drown it out. Thoughts carried sounds. Monks rarely find stillness of this magnitude. An hour? To Lucien it had felt like ten.
"Quiet will drive you mad," said Tom "if you let it. Back on the Integrity, I spent fifteen hours locked inside an airlock while a mech crew worked to open the door -- nothing but me and the nag." He pointed to his head. "Every doubt I had trapped up there came pouring out. I started to wonder if I had any hope left."
Jimmy raised an eyebrow. "What did you do?"
"At first I didn't know what to do. I started telling myself jokes, singing songs, any little distraction. It didn't work, I kept coming back to the moment. I watched the door blow open end myself get sucked out a hundred times, easy." He waved his hands in the air, flying apart from each other. "Poof." Jimmy flinched. "But then I started to embrace it. I drowned out everything but the silence. No thoughts, no songs, no jokes, not even my own breath. Do you know what I found?"
Lucien looked up. "Yourself." He said with confidence.
Jimmy spun around and looked at Lucien. "Very good." Tom said. "Everything else was from the outside. Suddenly, none of that mattered anymore."
A loud, metallic scraping came from atop the workabout, rocking the whole vehicle in its place. The crew looked up athe ceiling while grabbing for support. As the ship settled, clunks and clanks came in rapid succession, followed by a muted rush of air from the outside. "Get back!" Tom yelled, motioning towards the floor. Sparks shot through the cabin as two blades of fire pierced through the roof, spraying tiny beads molten metal in all directions. The points of light spun clockwise in a three foot circle, which opened up and dropped a chunk of material to the ground with force. The walls shook as it hit.
Through the newly carved portal, a ladder was lowered until it made contact. Jimmy stood up and walked towards the ladder as the clink of footsteps made their way down from high above. Tom and Lucien looked up, but remained seated on their benches. A figure emerged from the hole, sheathed in airtight armor and carrying a small pistol. "Take no chances." Lucien thought to himself. The creature stood, looking at the three of them. A crackling voice came from speakers in the wearer's shoulders, giving what a tinted face shield denied them; proof that this figure was alive. She pointed first to Jimmy, then to Tom and directed them to climb the ladder. Jimmy scrambled up quickly, Tom followed, but perched after a few rungs waited for his friend. As the stranger turned to face Lucien, he shuddered a moment. Was she staring at him through that mask?
"Wait... no. Not you." She said sharply.
Lucien could feel his face draining. "Me? Not Me?! But.. Why?!"
"We've been ordered not to rescue you, should we find you."
Tom dropped back to the floor. "That's rediculous!" He shouted.
Lucien nodded vigorously. "What have I done?"
"We were left strict instructions from Director Teeds not to bring you aboard any ship in the event something happened to the Parsephan." Lucien winced; something, indeed. "As we have not yet been able to contact him, then we have no choice but to follow those orders until further notice."
Lucien was certain they wouldn't hear from Teeds again. "But I tried to save them!" He thought she was looking at him again.
"That is not for me to decide." She said, with a hint of sadness.
"We're not leaving without him!" Tom shouted. Jimmy ducked his head back down through the hole. "That's right!" he confirmed.
A million thoughts dashed through Lucien's head -- sprints of conspiracies, follies and misguided ambitions all competing to take the lead. "No," he said, " This isn't your fight."
Tom scoffed. "Like Hell it isn't!"
"I need you to make the case. Go, speak with the ISA. They need to know what happened here today."
"If they still exist."
"I'm sure the organization is still alive, even if all of their buildings are gone, Tom." Lucien said, then wrapped his arms around his friend. "Just go. Be brave." Tom looked down, then nodded.
Jimmy pulled himself back up the ladder into the ship above. Tom let go of Lucien and made his way up to follow his brother, glancing down once more before ascending. Having her attentioned diverted by Tom's departure, she took a step up the ladder and made a hand gesture through the hole. "I follow my orders, Mr. Terwillis." She said, looking back at him. A bulky, rectangular package was handed to her from above, and she dropped it to the floor. "But I don't believe in death sentences. There is a base" she pointed to her left, "about fourteen miles in that direction. You should be able to make it there." She looked up again, nodded, and climbed up the ladder into the void.
Lucien opened the box, tucked inside was a spacesuit. "Thank you!" He shouted up, and scrambled to get dressed in the seconds before the cabin lost all of its pressure.

4:10p Balloon ride! WOO!
I was talking with the crew for the more local balloon pilot that I crew. One was mentioning how she'd just been on a ride with him. I let her know that I had not yet been offered a ride yet, and she was very surprised. I think the pilot doesn't want to stop on toes with the other pilot I crew for.
At any rate, I finally got a full flight in a hot air balloon. It was cool because the last flight was over an area I didn't really know. This time it was right over home. Cool. It was also cool, because we took the big balloon - which holds around 8-12 people. It was nice to watch that many people, even funnier to see them standing straight up, scared of the edge of the basket. I was leaning on and over the basket.. ;) Very comfortable with the balloon.
We flew for 45 minutes before looking for a spot to land. Total flight of about an hour. I was impressed with his landing spot - An intersection in a subdivision.
I know he appreciates me; he comes over and thanks me personally every time I help him. It's not just a passing "Hey, Thanks".
I also saw the "traditional" champagne toast done. I won't ruin it for those that might go on a balloon ride ;)

Ahhhhhggggg, don' wanna go to work, >( Between my obsession with Pathtags (and a BRAND NEW IDEA for one a friend has given me, ><) and my burning desire to play Pokémon... yea, work is going to be more hellish than normal this week...
Also, god#@$%it, it looks like my site went down. Been having problems with it in the past few weeks, now it looks like everything is just gone. Fffffffff, I need a trained webmonkey to help me out with this, >_< Being a jack of all trades is god, but I think I'm finding out that website upkeep is not one of my strong suits. Not looking forward to trying to re-upload and fix all my broken links either, if it ever even comes up again at all.... Monday, why you gotta do this to me?
Grumblemumblegrumble... Time to go get ready, I'd suppose. Maybe today won't suck? Maybe?

12:47p More OOP Woes!
Thank you so much, nickinuse!!! You solved all my issues this time around!
Hi Guys!
justindustin was so helpful with my last problem and I've made progress with my project, but I'm running into another issue.
Basically, none of my data members can keep their values!
I have two files: index.php and social_media.php. index.php is going to be the data display file, while social_media.php is the class file. index.php has a require_once('social_media.php'), a new Social_Media object, and a call to one of my getter functions in Social_Media.
The object creates just fine. I have some echo statements in my __constructor that display all the data members after they've had values set to them, so I *know* they're set.
Unfortunately, when I go to call my getter function, which includes an echo statement letting me know whether or not the variable has a value, I get a "no value" response.
The getter function is also supposed to pull the value from the database if the value doesn't exists for some reason. But instead of getting the value, it gets me a "Fatal error: Call to a member function prepare() on a non-object" error!
Seriously, what am I doing wrong?
( Data members, constructor, and getter code here )
Here are the results that display to my screen right now.
Client ID: 1 Network Name: facebook Username: my_username Password: my_password Profile URL: http://www.facebook.com/my_account
Username doesn't have a value Fatal error: Call to a member function prepare() on a non-object in /home/julisana/social_media/social_media.php on line 140
getUsername starts on line 123, so line 140 is inside that function.

6:11a Third time announcement's the charm...
Those of you who didn't see this on FA or on my isocommunity...
I will only be at Midwest Furfest in very limited capacity, mostly Friday morning/afternoon and Monday morning. I will NOT be in the dealers' room or selling any comics.
The only guaranteed place you will see me is at the life drawing session Friday afternoon, run by the lovely and talented Chillymouse, film2edit. There are general human, fursuit, and nude(!) sessions scheduled with live models, so bring your own materials and stop by the Elm room, 2 - 5PM (general/fursuit) and 9 - 11PM (nude). I say this cuz, uuuuuuuhh...I've volunteered to be one of the models ^ ^;; in the general human section, 2 - 3:30. Yes, yes, I'm sure it's a shock to most of you. I don't consider myself remotely photogenic, but this ain't photographs, and I *do* have an unusual body type (squat, stocky Japanese genes FTW), and the point of live models is to have some variety. So. Yeah ^ ^;; Any of you artist types who have free time around then, please drop by. While Ms Chillymouse had good success with this last MFF, supposedly if it goes well she's looking to expand this to Anthrocon as well, and she managed to increase the time block here, so please spread the word make it worth our while :-)
Hope to seeya there!

3:32a Midwest Furfest
It's been quite a while since I've posted anything here. I apologize for that but I have a very good reason! Actually I don't. But I'm going to pretend I do so that I can masturbate over how right I am later.
To be honest, I have some tall apologizing to do to the folks out there. Obviously, I've been dropped off the map for quite a while now. I've had lots of e-mails from folks asking me if I'm still alive and saying that they miss me and the shows and rants.
To be honest, I miss them too.
Without being all dramatic, I'll say that the time I spent in Michigan didn't wind up doing me too well. The last four years of my life has been a wreck. It wasn't the state of Michigan alone or any one person or factor that caused my life to spontaneously clusterfuck itself. It has been a series of choices, experiences and unfortunate decisions that lead me down a path in life that looked safe and interesting at first, but turned out to be very bad further down the trail.
As soon as I saw the path I was on turning ugly and dangerous, I left it. And at the same time, left behind about four years to uselessness. I haven't been a very good entertainer lately.
However, I wanted everyone to know that my last few months have been relatively silent because I am busy putting myself back together. I've moved to California into a very caring environment with good people. I have a new studio I've put together with some amazing new equipment that I will be creating new projects in soon. I'm resetting myself from the last few years and refocusing on what it is I want to do... being an entertainer in whatever capacity I can be.
Though it isn't on the website (rebuilding it is still on my to do list), I will be at MFF next weekend to perform a comedy show for you! I look forward to seeing you all there and I hope you have a safe and pleasant trip.
More to come!
